Sports Data Labs, Inc. Announces Issuance of New U.S. Patent Covering its AI-Based Athlete Data Simulation System that Leverages Synthetic Biological Data to Predict Future Events
Issuance of U.S. Patent No. 12,330,047 expands the Company’s AI-based patent portfolio across high-growth areas including human performance, longevity, eSports, and sports betting
CLEVELAND--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sports Data Labs, Inc. (“SDL”), an award-winning leader in AI-based collection, analysis, and distribution of human data from sensors and other systems, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (“USPTO”) has issued U.S. Patent No. 12,330,047 to the company covering a novel AI-based system and method for generating synthetic biological data to simulate biological processes in athletes (e.g., humans, race horses, digital representations) in modeled scenarios in order to generate a prediction, forecast, probability, possibility, or recommendation related to one or more future events.
SDL’s issued patent is designed to leverage both captured biological sensor data and generated artificial biological data to generate a prediction or recommendation related to a future outcome

SDL’s issued patent, entitled “System for Generating Simulated Animal [Human] Data and Models,” features an AI-based simulation system that utilizes trained neural networks to create dynamic, real-time simulations that leverage captured biological sensor data (e.g., physiological data, biomechanical data, tracking data), contextual data, modifiable variables, and other personal information (e.g., medical data) to generate artificial biological data that predicts the behavior of future biological systems (i.e., what the human body will do during a future event). Focused on athletes in athletic events (e.g., live competition, training, simulated events), SDL’s issued patent is designed to leverage both captured biological sensor data and generated artificial biological data to generate a prediction or recommendation related to a future outcome, enabling an athlete or third parties to evaluate biological data-based performance or mitigate associated risk.
“We are thrilled with the issuance of this new patent which continues to bolster our patent portfolio in the AI ecosystem,” said Vivek Khare, Co-Inventor and Head of Technology of SDL, the assignee of U.S. Patent No. 12,330,047. “ Our patented simulation system is designed to predict outcomes related to future biological states using artificial data, such as an athlete’s fatigue level for the remainder of a competition, or future events based on predicted biological states, such as the probability that an athlete wins or loses the competition based on their predicted fatigue. Our exclusivity in key areas related to synthetic data and simulating biological-based outcomes in athletic training, competitions, and other events will allow us to drive novel value for our partners across sports, insurance, healthcare, and other high-growth markets.”
SDL’s issued patent further discloses a novel system and method for a user to input information into one or more AI-based models that incorporates domain-specific knowledge in order to provide the user with personalized information, products, and services derived from one or more biological-based simulations, including personalized treatment/exercise/rehabilitation plans, nutrition programming, pricing, and guidance for everyday living. The system is configured to leverage adaptive modeling techniques that are dynamically tuned to mirror individual subjects, allowing for real-time enhancements based on incoming data.
“Our patent portfolio reiterates that we have been at the forefront of leveraging AI to develop novel systems and methods that are foundational to understanding and quantifying the principal biological drivers of human performance,” said Mark Gorski, Co-Inventor and CEO of SDL. “This patent, which enables AI-based simulations of complex biological responses in athletes and reduces dependencies on real-world data, will accelerate opportunities for model training, product creation, system testing, and other decision-making needs.”
The issued patent, which is also granted in Japan, will provide SDL with exclusivity for its invention in the U.S. until April 2041. With 13 active patent families, this is the company’s fifth issued patent in the U.S.
