Travelers Announces the Start of the 2025 Travelers Championship

PGA TOUR Signature Event features 45 of the top 50 players in the world

HARTFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) today announced the start of the 2025 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, the final Signature Event of the PGA TOUR season. This year’s tournament marks Travelers’ 19th consecutive year as title sponsor, making the company the longest-running title sponsor in the event’s history.

The 2025 Travelers Championship features the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, and 45 of the top 50. Players include Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world and the tournament’s defending champion; Rory McIlroy (No. 2); Xander Schauffele (No. 3); Collin Morikawa (No. 4); and Justin Thomas (No. 5).

“When Travelers first became the title sponsor in 2007, our goal was to make a difference in our community,” said Alan Schnitzer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Travelers. “We are proud to have done that 19 years running, including three years with an elevated status. After all this time, the Travelers Championship is still a labor of love, made possible with the PGA TOUR’s support, the best players in golf, corporate sponsors, community partners, the countless Travelers employees who volunteer their time and, most importantly, the fans. We are looking forward to another great week of golf that will benefit charities throughout the region and generate important economic activity.”

Since Travelers became title sponsor in 2007, the tournament has generated tens of millions of dollars for hundreds of local and regional charities. In 2024, 206 nonprofit organizations benefited from the more than $3.2 million generated by the event.

This year’s primary beneficiary will again be The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, an organization based in Ashford, Connecticut, that provides a traditional summer camp experience for children with serious illnesses. A variety of other charities – focusing on arts and culture, education, health care, housing, human services, mental health, food insecurity, science and technology, and youth development – also benefit from their involvement with the Travelers Championship.

“The longest-running title sponsor in tournament history is not a milestone we take for granted,” said Andy Bessette, Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at Travelers. “We are proud to have played a lead role in building this tournament into one of the few Signature Events on the PGA TOUR, and we are grateful to the countless people – Tournament Director Nathan Grube and his staff, our team at Travelers and so many others – who make this event a success year after year. I can’t wait to see how the competition unfolds.”

All 72 players in this year’s tournament will compete for four rounds, beginning on Thursday, June 19. The Travelers Championship offers a $20 million purse, with $3.6 million going to the winner.

Ticketed spectators will be allowed on-site starting Wednesday, June 18. Tournament-related special events are scheduled throughout the week and include The Umbrella at 15 ½ Challenge on Tuesday, where PGA TOUR players compete in a closest-to-the-pin contest at the 40-foot-wide floating green in the shape of the Travelers red umbrella logo. The winner will earn $10,000 from Travelers for the charity of his choice. The Signature Women’s Day Breakfast will be held at TPC River Highlands on Thursday, with Hoda Kotb, award-winning journalist, author and CEO, as the keynote speaker.

Golf Channel will provide live tournament coverage from 3 to 6 p.m. ET Thursday and Friday, and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. ET. CBS will provide coverage from 3 to 6:30 p.m. ET Saturday and 3 to 6 p.m. ET Sunday. PGA TOUR Live on ESPN+ will offer live access to marquee and featured groups, as well as certain holes, Thursday through Sunday. The event can also be streamed on Paramount+.
