Molina Healthcare of Nevada Invests Over $400,000 in Support of Enhanced Behavioral Health Services and Access to Care Across the State
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Molina Healthcare of Nevada (“Molina”), in collaboration with The MolinaCares Accord (“MolinaCares”), is investing over $400,000 in 12 Nevada organizations to advance health care services across the state, with a focus on expanding behavioral health care and improving access to care for Nevadans in need.
“Too many Nevadans are still in need of comprehensive resources and support to overcome the challenges they face,” said David Robeck, president and CEO of Bridge Counseling. “We are grateful for partners like Molina that join us in the vital work we are doing to advance the care and services available to those individuals.”
Molina’s current investments focus on supporting justice-involved individuals, those experiencing homelessness, as well as children, teens and caregivers. The grants aim to impact resources available, connecting people in crisis to trained therapists and other services to meet their individual needs.
Approximately 38.4% of Nevada adults reported symptoms of anxiety or depression in 2023, compared to a national average of 32.3%. Nevada ranks second to last among states for the percentage of youth who experienced at least one major depressive episode in the past year, with more than 22% affected — roughly double the national average.
Organizations receiving grants aimed at enhancing behavioral health services include:
- High Sierra AHEC - to build and implement a Community Health Worker Certification and Workforce Development Program for justice-involved juveniles
- Bridge Counseling – to provide behavioral health support to justice-involved individuals and adolescents and their families lacking sufficient support
- CARE Complex - to support programs for those experiencing homelessness as they move toward independence
- Northern Nevada HOPES Child Parent Psychotherapy Program – to strengthen the child-caregiver relationship, minimize trauma response and restore cognitive, behavioral, and social functioning
- NAMI Northern Nevada - to expand the Youth Recovery Peer Support internship program to certify graduates as community health workers and recovery peer specialists
- NAMI Western Nevada to support the Nevada Teen Peer Support line
- Nevada Association for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) - to address the shortage of trained therapists to meet the early behavioral health needs of families by offering an IECMH Specialist Certificate
- Share Village – to fund the operations of the Las Vegas facility, which provides housing for over 500 previously homeless individuals through transitional and permanent housing
- The Children’s Cabinet – to provide a safety net and connect children in crisis to caring adults, safe places, and the support they need to thrive
“Molina Healthcare of Nevada is dedicated to expanding access to care for Nevadans in need, whether that be comprehensive behavioral health care or other critical services,” said Rob Baughman, plan president of Molina Healthcare of Nevada. “We are proud to work alongside valued partners who share our mission to improve the overall health and wellness of the communities we serve.”
Molina is also providing grants focused on workforce development in the health care industry in an effort to increase the number of providers and access to care in Nevada. These investments focus on training, education, and capacity-building efforts that help providers thrive and ensure residents can access timely, high-quality care. Organizations receiving grants in this category include:
- Project ECHO – to support virtual provider training for developmental pediatrics
- University of Nevada, Reno – in support of clinical supervisor training
Northern Nevada Children's Cancer Foundation is also receiving a grant, to enhance access to care for families struggling to overcome the financial and emotional burdens of a childhood cancer diagnosis.
This new round of funding builds on Molina’s $1.4 million investment in 2025 and over $6 million since 2022, all of which have supported various community partners working to reduce health disparities for underserved Nevadans.
