John Maguire Joins Academy Securities as Managing Director, Mergers & Acquisitions

John Maguire joins Academy after 20 years of professional experience distinguished by a blend of executive operating leadership, corporate development expertise, and extensive public sector service. As a leader in corporate development, Mr. Maguire has executed acquisitions, strategic investments, and managed end-to-end, value-generating integrations for various major organizations. His extensive corporate development track record includes, among other transactions, leading a multi-month global acquisition search for a Point72 Ventures AI portfolio company that successfully acquired a cybersecurity company, and leading the strategic investment into a cybersecurity company that culminated in its acquisition as Head of Commercial Corporate Development at Booz Allen Hamilton. As an executive operator, he also held leadership roles in Business Development and Strategy at multiple venture-backed technology companies that achieved M&A exits to major strategic buyers, including AT&T and Palo Alto Networks (PANW).

At Academy, Mr. Maguire will specialize in high-growth, dual-use technology markets, including Emerging Technologies, Defense Tech, and Cybersecurity.

Mr. Maguire is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds advanced degrees from Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management and Georgetown’s McCourt School of Public Policy. He served as a senior staff member on the Senate Intelligence Committee and as a U.S. Navy Intelligence Officer. He currently advises on the intersection of technology and policy as an Affiliate at the Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) at Stanford University.
