Golden Peak Media Acquires Creativebug, Aligning Two Top-Tier Arts and Crafts Education Companies

GOLDEN, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Golden Peak Media, one of the largest media and education companies serving art and craft enthusiasts in the United States, has acquired Creativebug, an online learning platform previously owned by Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores. The acquisition brings two high-quality content providers in the arts and crafts space together with the united mission of spreading the joy of creating and building community.

“The synergy between Creativebug and Golden Peak Media’s content, consumers, and communities made this acquisition a very natural fit. This alignment will allow even more enthusiasts to be inspired throughout their entire creative journey with continued support for lifelong learning,” stated David Saabye, Chief Executive Officer at Golden Peak Media.

Creativebug was formed in 2012 by two busy moms who dreamed of taking a craft class while their kids were in bed or sneaking in a lesson on their lunch break. This vision became what Creativebug is today: a subscription-based platform that is open 24/7, featuring 1,000+ online sewing, art, craft and needle art classes tailor made for a diverse community of makers. Their key customers are individuals who sign up for monthly or annual subscriptions, and libraries throughout the U.S., who license subscriptions that public library users can use for free.

Saabye continued, “The Creativebug team has built a strong business based around their robust online platform and niche audience segments. I have been impressed with the talent and creativity of the team, and we are all enthusiastic to continue to serve and support these communities and audiences without interruption.”

Creativebug will maintain its headquarters in Berkeley, CA, with Liana Allday as the General Manager.

"We are over the moon to have found a new home that shares our passion for making. Golden Peak's involvement in the craft community and commitment to high-quality media is clear in everything they do, and we are thrilled to join the portfolio as their newest digital brand," stated Allday.
