WorldQuant Learning Launches to Address Growing Demand for Data Science and Technology Talent

Company develops innovative education technology to deliver high-quality, rigorous online learning at scale

The company’s first product, WorldQuant Labs, will enable educators and trainers to offer advanced, applied technical education

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--WorldQuant Learning, a new education technology company founded by Igor Tulchinsky, launched today to accelerate the ability of institutions to deliver high-quality online education at scale and help meet the global demand for data science and tech talent.

“WorldQuant Learning’s mission is to accelerate pathways to knowledge and skills, for any learner,” said John Endrud, CEO of WorldQuant Learning. “The WorldQuant Labs platform addresses the growing demand for technical professionals while solving key challenges in facilitating technical education delivery; enabling institutions to scale their programs effectively and efficiently by delivering best-in-class, real-world instruction.”

The company comes to market offering WorldQuant Labs, a virtual platform for colleges, universities, and businesses to provide a unified platform for hands-on, project-based learning across data science, computer science, and programming. WorldQuant Labs’ comprehensive approach to teaching and learning in-demand technical skills offers:

  • Integration with existing learning management systems (LMS) to optimize instructor workflows and streamline learning experiences
  • Browser-based access to development environments and popular tools for hands-on learning
  • Extensive libraries of real-world projects for use off-the-shelf or the option to modify based on the unique nature of the course
  • Comprehensive experience for teaching, learning, assessment, feedback, and collaboration, in a single platform

Market indicators underscore the urgency for skilled technical talent. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts 36% growth in data scientist roles1 and 25% growth in software development positions over the next decade, adding more than 411,400 new technical jobs2 by 2033. The Business Higher Education Forum (BHEF) "State of Skills and Partnerships Research Study" found that 66% of business leaders report difficulties finding entry-level talent with technical skills needed for emerging occupations, with data science and AI capabilities topping the list3. Simultaneously, higher education enrollments are trending upwards in these high demand technical fields. Computer science enrollments have grown 95% since 20154, while data science program completions increased 700% between 2012-20215. The rate at which higher education and employers respond to the demand for skilled technical talent, will need to rapidly increase as workforce projections indicate continued growth ahead.

"With computing roles expected to comprise a majority of new STEM jobs6, technological advancements and industry evolutions are rapidly increasing demand for data professionals and tech talent in the workforce,” said Tim Tomlinson, Chief Technology Officer of WorldQuant Learning. “With WorldQuant Labs, we aim to prepare today's learners for the in-demand roles of today across big data, fintech, AI, and machine learning, as well as the jobs of the future.”

Founded on the belief that talent exists everywhere while opportunity does not, WorldQuant Learning builds on decades of proven experience developing technical talent globally. The company's technology currently powers WorldQuant University's online master's and certificate programs, which have prepared tens of thousands of students worldwide for careers in quantitative fields. Through WorldQuant Learning’s technology, these capabilities are now available to help educational institutions and employers develop skilled data science and technical talent more effectively.
