UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas Awarded NCQA Health Equity Accreditation

--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas has been awarded Health Equity Accreditation by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). This accreditation is in recognition of UnitedHealthcare’s commitment to providing high-quality, equitable health care to its members.

“We are honored to receive this accreditation from NCQA recognizing our work in Kansas,” said Jenny Ismert, CEO, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas. “It is a testament to our commitment to providing our members with the best possible care and to eliminating disparities in health care. We look forward to continuing our efforts in the communities where we live and work, as well as ensuring that our members have access to quality health care.”

NCQA awards Health Equity Accreditation to organizations that lead in providing culturally and linguistically sensitive services, and work to reduce health care disparities. UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Kansas met or exceeded all NCQA’s requirements, demonstrating its commitment to health equity.

“The prevalence of racial and ethnic disparities has been a barrier to improving the quality of health care of many Americans for too long,” said NCQA President Margaret E. O’Kane. “Organizations achieving Health Equity Accreditation are leaders in closing this gap, and NCQA commends them for their dedication.”

UnitedHealthcare remains focused on advancing health equity in the state of Kansas, and in 2023 invested more than $1.5 million in the state. As part of these efforts, the company awarded $500,000 to four nonprofit organizations in Kansas focused on addressing social drivers of health and improving access to care.

UnitedHealthcare serves more than 567,000 members in Kansas, with a network of 148 hospitals and more than 22,000 providers.
