Citizens for a New Delaware Way Slams Double Standard for Bethany Hall-Long, State Rep Candidate Branden Fletcher-Dominguez

WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Following news that candidate for State Representative Branden Fletcher-Dominguez has suspended his campaign after an investigation by The Delaware Departments of Justice and Elections into his residency qualifications for the office, Citizens for a New Delaware Way (CNDW) PAC has released the following statement:

“News that Branden Fletcher-Dominguez’s compelling bid for State Representative has been cut short by the State’s ‘Justice’ Department is both devastating and a clear demonstration of the double standards so deeply embedded in the State’s politics and governing institutions.

“To be clear, Bethany Hall-Long has flagrantly broken Delaware law dozens of times – while serving as an elected official no less – by improperly reporting the hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars she paid to herself and her husband and failing to submit a financial audit to the State Board of Elections. She did all that while accepting campaign donations far exceeding legal limits. Yet despite those myriad improprieties, her campaign continues unchallenged by the Department of Justice.

“Once again, the well-connected power brokers in this state dodge meaningful consequences while a young leader from a new generation faces intense scrutiny over his housing insecurity.

“The contrast between how these two candidates have been treated by the State could not be more stark. We need wholesale change in Delaware to put an end to the same old broken Delaware that benefits the few, the wealthy and the well-connected and leaves everyone else behind.”
