Church Mutual® Kicks Off “250 Minutes of Service” Effort to Mark America’s 250th Anniversary

MERRILL, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Church Mutual Insurance Company, S.I. (a stock insurer)1 and its family of companies are celebrating America’s 250th anniversary by inviting employees nationwide to give back through #CMGives250 — a company-wide effort to volunteer 250 minutes of service.

From May 25 through July 31, more than 1,000 employees across the organization are invited to step away from their desks and into their communities as part of #CMGives250, dedicating roughly four hours to causes they care about — individually or as teams.

“We thought, what better way to celebrate America’s 250th birthday than by giving back to our communities? It’s neighbors looking out for neighbors. It’s people participating. That’s the spirit of our country,” said Alan Ogilvie, president and CEO of Church Mutual. “250 minutes of service is a way to tap into that spirit together — and my hope is we inspire others to celebrate and volunteer with us.”

The initiative will build on recent employee-led charitable giving campaigns, including donations supporting local tornado relief efforts and a separate program in which employees nominated over 75 nonprofits and voted to direct a share of $45,000 to 14 nonprofits across the United States.

The 250 minutes of service effort is designed to become the largest coordinated volunteer effort in the organization’s history over a two-month period. The initiative will support many of the causes and community organizations Church Mutual insures — including nonprofits, religious organizations, schools, camps and more.

Over the course of America’s 250th anniversary, stories and moments from employees’ volunteer efforts will be shared online using #CMGives250, highlighting individual moments and larger team efforts.
