Revive Environmental Applauds EPA’s Strengthened Actions to Address PFAS Contamination; Expands Commitment to Permanent PFAS Destruction

COLUMBUS, Ohio--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Revive Environmental today welcomed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) announcement outlining a comprehensive suite of actions to address Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS) contamination across the United States. Under the leadership of Administrator Lee Zeldin, EPA’s initiative advances a multi-pronged strategy to strengthen scientific research, enhance regulatory enforcement, and build partnerships to support communities and industries impacted by PFAS.

"The U.S. EPA continues to lead the way in setting enforceable standards for PFAS treatment—a pivotal move that is driving real change not only across the country but also influencing action abroad."

The EPA’s plan to develop enforceable effluent limitation guidelines (ELGs) for PFAS manufacturers and metal finishers represents a major shift that is expected to drive substantial action across the U.S. industrial sector, by thoughtfully protecting citizens from exposure.

Revive Environmental, a national leader in PFAS full-service solutions, including on-site concentration, transportation, and permitted destruction, is already operating at commercial scale through multiple permitted fixed facilities and mobile field deployments. It delivers complete PFAS destruction for municipal, industrial, and defense sector clients.

"The U.S. EPA continues to lead the way in setting enforceable standards for PFAS treatment—a pivotal move that is driving real change not only across the country but also influencing action abroad," said David Trueba, Chief Executive Officer of Revive Environmental. "We see this leadership reflected at our facilities, where customers are embracing stringent standards and turning to Revive for scalable, proven PFAS destruction."

Commitment to Permanent PFAS Destruction

Revive Environmental’s patented Supercritical Water Oxidation (SCWO) technology offers complete and verifiable destruction of PFAS compounds, converting them into harmless byproducts such as carbon dioxide, water, and salts. Unlike traditional mitigation approaches like incineration, landfilling, or long-term storage, SCWO permanently eliminates PFAS at the molecular level, preventing further environmental and public health risks.

Revive’s SCWO systems are currently deployed at commercial scale to address PFAS contamination in:

  • Legacy Aqueous Film-Forming Foam (AFFF) stockpiles
  • Landfill leachate and industrial wastewater
  • Complex waste streams that are difficult to manage with traditional treatment technologies

All destruction results are verified through third-party analytical methods, including OTM-45 (modified) and fluorine mass balance testing, ensuring complete transparency and regulatory compliance.

Partnership with States and Industry

In addition to federal action, state-level leadership is critical in addressing PFAS risks. A recent analysis shows 29 states are advancing independent PFAS regulations in 2025, including enforceable drinking water standards, effluent limits, and product bans. Revive Environmental is working with municipalities, industries, and utilities across these states to deploy turnkey PFAS destruction solutions tailored to state-specific regulatory frameworks.
